Is the car locator device still usable if the wiring is broken?

In short, the wired car locator device can only be used after it is powered on. Usually, the wired car locator device has three lines, one is connected to the positive pole of the vehicle power supply, the other is connected to the negative pole, and the other is the ACC Wire. If two of the three lines of the car locator device are disconnected, can the locator still monitor the position of the vehicle?

First of all, we can confirm that the wired car locator device can only work when the car locator device and the vehicle power supply form a closed current loop. If two of the three lines of the locator are broken, then the locator and the vehicle power supply must be lost to form a closed loop. Without the establishment of a closed loop, the locator is not powered on, and the position of the vehicle cannot be continuously tracked and located.

The same is true for the poor contact of the locator line. If the circuit of the positioner is in poor contact, the closed loop will not be "closed", which will also cause the machine equipment to be unavailable offline.

Once the line connecting the positive and negative poles of the vehicle power supply is disconnected, the locator will have no power source and will not work properly for positioning.

The vehicle ACC line can determine whether the vehicle is in start mode or shutdown mode. If this line is disconnected, many functions of the car locator device cannot be used.

However, in order to avoid unprovoked damage to wired equipment, some locator manufacturers have a power-off alarm function, and some equipment also have a small number of separate backup batteries. As long as the positioner is damaged or the line is cut, this single backup power supply can keep the machine equipment working for 2-3 hours.
