What is the difference between car GPS and car navigator

In our daily life, we often hear the two products of car GPS and car navigator. Today, I will briefly introduce the specific functions and components of these two products in use. Car GPS and car navigator are not the same equipment. Both of them have their own application scenarios and core functions in terms of functions and applications.

The main function of on-board GPS is to monitor the location and condition of the vehicle, and to record the behavior of the vehicle. For example, if we install a vehicle-mounted GPS in the vehicle, the vehicle-mounted GPS will transmit the received positioning information to the designated vehicle monitoring server through its own communication module. The owner and manager of the vehicle can log in to the vehicle monitoring platform to perform remote monitoring and statistics of various data. This product is mainly used in industries such as enterprise fleet management, company vehicle monitoring, and logistics truck operations.

The car navigation system is composed of three parts:

1. GPS positioning module built in car navigation system. After this can be identified by the processing system, it is clear that the real-time latitude and longitude of the vehicle on the electronic map is the real-time position of the vehicle, which is consistent with the on-board GPS.

2. The built-in electronic map and index function of the car locator. The electronic map uses a visualization system to view and display map data, generally using vector image storage, so that the map can be zoomed in and out without affecting the use effect. The main function of the map is to visually display our starting position and target position, while at the same time planning and indicating our driving path. The index function in the electronic map is mainly for quick access to the massive map data that has been embedded in the device, and it is also the most critical and complex part of the entire car navigation system. Generally, the built-in map or offline map will be pre-made in advance.

3. The driving function is to store the traffic routes and elevated intersections of various regions in the local system, and then set the target position to get the best driving route through the algorithm. It can also calculate current traffic jams and inconvenient areas through networked data. Sometimes when the driver does not follow the planned route, or deviates from the corresponding intersection, the car navigation system will re-plan according to your current location, so that the driver can have the best driving experience.
